NATIONAL LEAGUE MESA RECAP

CIU Boys Dominate in the Desert:

National League Mesa Recap

It was a historic weekend for Central Illinois United in Mesa, Arizona, as our boys’ sides took to the pitch for the USYS National League Winter Event. Competing against some of the top-ranked talent in the country, the CIU boys showcased the depth and determination of our club, securing multiple postseason berths and a trip to the National stage.

2011 Boys: Punched Their Ticket to Nationals

The 2011 Boys put on a masterclass in group play. By winning their group outright, they have officially advanced to the 2026 USYS National Championships. Their disciplined play and clinical finishing earned them the title of Group Champions, and we couldn’t be prouder to see them represent CIU on the national stage this summer.

2010 Boys: Undefeated and Cup Qualified

The 2010 Boys were a force to be reckoned with all weekend, finishing the event with an unblemished undefeated record. Their performance has officially qualified the team for the National League Cup. This prestigious postseason opportunity is a testament to the group's consistency and hard work throughout the event.

2009 Boys: Wildcard Warriors

The 2009 Boys demonstrated incredible resilience in Arizona. After battling through a highly competitive bracket, their performance earned them a wildcard spot in the Finals. This hard-fought advancement keeps their championship dreams alive as they move forward into the next phase of the postseason.

2012 Boys: Gaining National Experience

While the results on the scoreboard didn't go their way this time, the 2012 Boys (0-2-1) gained invaluable experience competing at the highest level of youth soccer. Testing themselves against national-caliber opponents provides the foundation for future growth, and we look forward to seeing this group apply those lessons in the upcoming spring season.

"Our weekend in Mesa proved once again that CIU can compete with the best in the nation. From group titles to undefeated runs, our boys showed incredible character", commented CIU Boys Director and coach Jack Turanchik.

Congratulations to all our players, coaches, and families for a fantastic showing in Arizona!

At Central Illinois United, excellence isn’t an accident — it’s a pattern.

We’re proud to share that Siena Stone and Peyton Lefler, both from our 2011 girls group, have earned invitations to the prestigious U.S. Soccer Girls U-14 Central Regional Mini Camp, held April 17–21 in Austin, TX.

This marks yet another milestone in a growing list of CIU players recognized at the national level — a clear sign that what we’re building here is different.

Peyton and Siena’s inclusion in this camp reflects not only their individual talent and relentless work ethic, but also the competitive, player-first environment fostered throughout our club. These rare opportunities are the result of long-term development, not luck — and we’re proud to support athletes who have the drive and dedication to reach the highest levels.

Please join us in congratulating Siena and Peyton on this incredible achievement — and in celebrating the fact that CIU continues to be a destination for players with big goals and national-level potential.
